Scandinavian design armchairs with metal legs are emblematic pieces of contemporary furniture. A number of renowned designers have contributed to this aesthetic by combining Nordic aesthetics with the creative use of metal. Notable designers include Poul Kjærholm, Anderssen & Voll, Doshi Levien, Hvidt & Mølgaard, Ilmari Tapiovaara and Bruno Mathsson.

Danish designer Poul Kjærholm is famous for his minimalist, functional creations. He has made brilliant use of metal in his armchairs to create light, elegant structures. His PK22 armchair is an excellent example of his work, with its stainless steel base and leather seat, creating a balance between natural and industrial materials.

Hvidt & Mølgaard, a Danish design duo, have also made their contribution to Scandinavian design with iconic armchairs. Their Boomerang armchair has a tubular steel frame and a leather or fabric seat, creating a timeless, lightweight aesthetic.

Finnish designer Ilmari Tapiovaara is renowned for his creative use of metal in his designs. His Kiki armchair is a classic example, with its tubular steel legs and leather or fabric seat creating a modern, sophisticated look.

Swedish designer Bruno Mathsson has also left his mark on Scandinavian design history with his metal armchairs. His Karin armchair, for example, is distinguished by its tubular steel frame and curved wooden back, creating a harmony between metal and wood.

Anderssen & Voll, a Norwegian design duo, have also contributed to Scandinavian design with distinctive metal leg chairs. Their Outline armchair, for example, features a lacquered steel frame and fabric or leather upholstery, offering a harmonious blend of comfort and modernity.

Doshi Levien, formed by Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien, is known for its creative and experimental approach to Scandinavian design. Their design chairs combine metal legs with organic shapes and a variety of materials, such as wood and textiles. Their Dapper armchair is a fine example, with its steel base and wrap-around fabric seat.
