The 118 is a classic wooden chair that updates Thonet's heritage by taking it one step further: the principle of reducing the elements that make up a chair to a minimum, to make it as versatile and adaptable as possible. Minimalist and elegant, the 118 chair lends a subtle elegance to any dining table, in any restaurant.
Sebastian Herkner has added refined details that make the chair more complex than it appears at first glance. The shape of the legs, for example, is distinctive: their rounded back is broken by curved edges on the front, creating lines that echo the horseshoe shape of the seat.
The wooden frame of the seat is made of a single curved piece, stretched with hand-woven cane, like a quotation from model 214, the original Thonet chair.
