Kaeko Coffee Table
Rafic Farah, 1989

Table basse Kaeko Rafic Farah
Table basse Kaeko Rafic Farah

Brazilian graphic designer and architect Rafic Farah designed this table as part of the refurbishment of Dr. Kaeco's office in 1989. A Métis of Japanese descent, Dr. Kaeco wanted an aesthetic syncretism of Japanese and Brazilian cultures, and Farah designed a collection of lighting fixtures, tatami mats and furniture for his client, including this coffee table.

The Kaeko table is a simple yet sophisticated piece, strong and feminine in the image of the woman who inspired it. It functions as a perfect complement to the Paulistano armchair.

Rafic Farah

Rafic Farah is a versatile artist. Designer, architect, art director, graphic artist, photographer, scriptwriter, Rafic Farah is a jack-of-all-trades who says of himself that he was particularly influenced by Mediterranean artists and that he chose design by chance.

A graduate of São Paulo's Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning, he set up his own design studio in 1981. He then devoted himself to graphic design. Author of numerous logos for Brazilian majors, he was commissioned to design the covers of Around magazines in the 80s and Trip in the 90s. He also designed several advertising campaigns for ready-to-wear brands (Zoomp, C&A, Fit, etc.). Rafic Farah really began designing objects in the late 80s. One of his most striking creations is undoubtedly the coffee table initially designed for Dr. Kaeco. In his object design, he opts for simple, uncluttered, almost ethereal lines.

Rafic Farah has taken part in numerous exhibitions in Brazil and abroad (Tel Aviv, Paris, Rome and Frankfurt). His work was awarded first prize for poster design at EKOPLAGAT (international category). He also represented Brazil at Graphistes Autour du Monde in Paris in 2001.

Rafic FARAH admirably represents this continent-like country, its music, its cinema, its colors...
