The W127 / 227 Winkel lamp was designed to offer the best possible work lamp at an affordable price. The concept of the w127 Winkel lamp is based on providing state-of-the-art light, built around a COB LED, and this is where it excels. Each of its components plays an essential role in the generous yet incredibly uniform distribution of high-quality, dimmable light over a large area. Thanks to the heat-insulating qualities of biopolyamide and a sophisticated heat management system, powerful light can be combined with safe handling and long life.
Biopolyamide is a high-performance recyclable material developed in collaboration with the German chemical company BASF, without compromising on quality, the environment or tactility. Based on over 60% biobased material from the castor plant, it offers all the advantages of plastic, while minimizing its disadvantages. The arms of w127 Winkel are made of pure, solid biopolyamide, with the power cord and micro-spring attached externally, fully visible; this well-thought-out construction of arms and joints ensures stability and flexibility, from lampshade to table stand.
The w127 Winkel lamp features an effective anti-glare construction that guarantees glare protection without significant loss of light. The w127 Winkel family is designed for maximum versatility, with several mounting options - base, clamp, spindle - as well as a range of adapters for integration into tabletop systems from various furniture manufacturers.
To mark the 10th anniversary of the w127 Winkel lamp, Wästberg has developed the w227 Winkel alu lamp. Based on aluminum as its name suggests, this new-generation work lamp uses very little material and features new, slimmer arm and joint profiles, a wider range of movement and advanced lighting technology. Thanks to its unique and exceptional performance, the w227 Winkel alu truly redefines high-end task lighting. Its arms and joints are hollow, making it possible to conceal previously visible cables and springs. w227 Winkel alu is made from partially recycled aluminum, which can itself be recycled at the end of its long life.

Dirk Winkel
Dirk Winkel is a product designer based in Berlin. He graduated from the University of the Arts (UdK) in Berlin and obtained an MA in Product Design from the Royal College of Art (RCA) in London in 2010.
He specialized in lighting and furniture design and worked for various designers and design houses in Berlin and London before setting up his own studio in Berlin in summer 2011. Driven by a belief in the beauty of formal purism and the classic principle of "less is more", he is particularly interested in exploring the limits of mass production techniques, questioning light and lighting paradigms, and investigating new materials and their potential.
