Johan Van Hengel is a Dutch designer, based in Rotterdam. Coming from a technical background in industrial design, he worked on both consumer electronics and furniture before launching his own studio in 2013, focusing on furniture, lighting and everyday accessories.

"I have a logical and investigative approach, driven by a desire to enrich everyday objects with new layers of sophistication, individuality, and meaning. With a focus on function, materiality, and technique, I try to invest everyday shapes and objects with a subtle element of surprise."

Scandinavian design is concerned with creating useful products for everyday life with enduring aesthetics and honest expressions that are consciously designed and produced.
