Kioski Maalis collection

When jeans started to become increasingly popular among both women and men, Annika Rimala wanted to design a collection of cotton jersey clothes to go with jeans. For all denim lovers, regardless of age, size or gender. That’s how Marimekko’s first cotton jersey collection was born. Evenly striped, expressing equality.

Stripes have always been essential to the world of Marimekko patterns. Maalis (March) is Maija and Kristina Isola’s interpretation of an even, medium-sized stripe.  Maija Isola created Patja (mattress), a stripe design with a dense rhythm, in 1979.

 The Siete knitted vest is made of organic cotton and it has a slim, straight fit. The short vest features the Maalis pattern in the body and the Patja pattern in the ribbing. The small Unikko flower is embroidered in the front, and the vest has a V-neck with wide double-ribbing, ribbing at the sleeve openings, and wide ribbing at the hemline.

The men’s fit Kesäkoju jumper is made of organic cotton in the Maalis and Patja patterns. 

The jumper has a double-ribbed O-neck, the small, embroidered Unikko flower in the front, and wide ribbing at the sleeve ends and hemline.
