The base pillar unifies the two halves of the table, creating an emblematic, easily recognizable profile. The structure of the base offers great flexibility in terms of the number of chairs around the table and guarantees free space for everyone's legs.

Nissen & Gehl

In 1970, furniture architects Søren Nissen and Ebbe Gehl set up a joint studio. Together, Nissen & Gehl designed a wide range of furniture for the home and gained international recognition for their furnishing programs for Danish and major international companies. Their designs and creative work have been exhibited extensively in Europe, Japan and the USA and, over the years, they have been awarded medals, prizes and scholarships.

Søren Nissen and Ebbe Gehl both trained as cabinetmakers at Rud Rasmussen Snedkerier with the highest honors and medals, and both trained as furniture designers at the Danish School of Arts and Crafts in 1966 and 1968 respectively. Ebbe Gehl worked in Nanna Ditzel's studio and taught furniture design and art at Edinburg College of Art for several years. Søren Nissen has worked in furniture design at several renowned Danish design studios.
