Sculptor Charles Kalpakian created the series of SOUL wall lights as so many autobiographical memories. Each is named Story 1, 2…6 and is animated by small seated or standing characters, who have populated the life of the author.
Weighing 3.7 to 5.2 kilos, illuminated by integrated LEDs, the sconces are made of plaster, some lined inside with gold leaf creating a warm light.

Charles Kalpakian est né à Beyrouth, au Liban, en 1982. Après avoir collaboré avec des agences prestigieuses, il a lancé son studio de design et développe depuis lors ses propres projets.
Il puise son inspiration dans ses racines en France et au Liban, ainsi que dans la culture du street-art. Ces influences prennent forme à travers la réinterprétation de motifs issus des arts décoratifs, eux-mêmes hérités de l'histoire et de la géographie du Liban. La ligne de travail de Charles est toujours nette mais flexible, comme les traits d'un pinceau de calligraphie. Ses projets mettent toujours en valeur la richesse de ses origines combinée aux éléments de la modernité occidentale.
