Copenhagen pendant

design Space Copenhagen, 2014/18

Space Copenhagen’s ambition was to design a lamp with a simple industrial feel, but which was still elegant and poetic. The Copenhagen Pendant is an exercise in contrasts. Combining the classic and the modern, the maritime and the industrial. The series started with one pendant in three sizes in 2014 and was extended in 2018 with two table lamps, one wall lamp and one floor lamp.

Materials The shade is spun into shape from a single piece of metal and matt lacquered or made from mouth-blown opal glass. The suspension is made from milled and laser cut bronzed brass or steel which undergoes a special plating process to produce the desired matt finish to complement the shade

Space Copenhagen

Established in 2005 by Signe Bindslev Henriksen and Peter Bundgaard Rützou, Space Copenhagen is a design studio working across multiple disciplines from furniture, lighting and refined objects, to art installations, art direction and interior design for private homes, hotels and restaurants all over the world.

The ambition is to forge new paths by balancing opposites: classic and modern, industrial and organic, sculptural and minimal, light and shade.

The studio’s intuitive approach embodies designs that are distinctively shaped by the given circumstances, functional needs, and a fundamental interest in human behavior. It is a sense of and belief in slow aesthetic that centers quality and longevity.
