Gert Wingårdh is one of Sweden's most renowned architects, with extensive experience and exceptional creativity. Rasmus Wingårdh has an impressive background in the fashion industry. Together they form Wingårdh & Wingårdh, where they explore and create beyond their areas of expertise. Their creative journey combines maximalism and minimalism, light and darkness, yin and yang, in the concept of duality.

"We worked with a chair designed in the 1950s by Yngve Ekström and considered it through today's aesthetic values. One foot in the past and one foot in the future."

"Our interpretation of the Lamino is a tribute to what we love about it. These are the shapes that were our source of inspiration when creating the collection. It was important to streamline the objects as much as possible, while still trying to bring out the elements that make them beautiful in our eyes."

The project was primarily about showcasing craftsmanship and creating something that pays homage to the beloved and iconic Lamino chair. Rasmus emphasizes that they not only incorporated their own design philosophy, but also focused on highlighting what was already there:

"What I really respect about Swedese is their craftsmanship and all the fantastic collaborators we had the pleasure of working with throughout the project. For us, the project was about showcasing craftsmanship as much as possible, and not to implement our own design philosophy. It is a great honor to be invited to leave our mark on an iconic and beloved chair like the Lamino, and I hope that we "We have done it justice. The design can be copied or scrapped, but refining it is a rare opportunity."

Yngve Ekström

Yngve Ekström

Beautiful, simple, comfortable – and loved. When a Swedish interiors magazine asked its readers to vote for "a piece of furniture from the 20th century", they chose the Lamino armchair designed by Yngve Ekström, the founder of the Swedish company Swedese. "Having designed a good chair may not be a bad life,” he had said many years before. But his legacy is far greater than the Lamino. Yngve Ekström had his own personal style, which allows much of his furniture to be preserved and kept in production.

Ekström was born in 1913 in Småland, where the oldest furniture factory in the country was located. His father died young and Ekström started working in the factory when he was 13 years old. His talent with woodworking and his diverse experience gave him a keen eye for materials and construction.

Like Alvar Aalto, Bruno Mathsson, Arne Jacobsen and Poul Kjaerholm, Yngve Ekström was part of the post-war modern movement that made the concept of "modern Scandinavian" world famous. His furniture is presented in numerous permanent collections, notably at the Victoria & Albert Museum, in London.
