Governor Lamp
Bent Karlby, 1956

Governor is a classic of the 50's, prized by design enthusiasts around the world. Now reissued as a floor and table lamp, the Governor continues to seduce with its warm and luxurious materials, with solid brass perfectly complementing the walnut. The light is downward, complemented by a horizontal halo effect, via its decorative peepholes located on the perimeter of the shade.

Bent Karby

Bent Karlby is widely regarded today as one of the most productive and versatile Danish lighting designers of the 20th century. He began collaborating with LYFA in the 1940s, a partnership that would last for nearly forty years. Bent Karlby is known for his soft light, organic shapes and distinctive peepholes. Over the course of his career, Karlby gravitated toward pure geometric shapes such as the cone, cylinder and arc, as well as playful colors. Unlike many of his contemporaries, Bent Karlby never employed staff in his studio. He wanted things done his way and was known for his uncompromising work ethic. His most famous works include the PEANUT, China, Japan, MOSAIK, NINOTCHKA, Barcelona and PAN pendants, the ERGO table lamp and the Peacock, Quadrille, PAN and GOTHIC sconces.
