"You don't really know what it is at first glance, so it's an opportunity to use your imagination! It's partly influenced by pop art, by pop-ups, looking like a sculpture, but a sculpture that has function. That's what design should be: fun, comfortable, well constructed and something that makes you smile.
The original Knot cushion was born out of an attempt to make, rather than crochet, paws for a teddy bear. The knitted tubes grew as he worked, suddenly reaching several metres in length. No more legs, but an experience that has become a work of art for the gallery. A new XL version is an informal and extremely comfortable seat. Sit on it. Bounce on it. Rest on it. Or simply leave it in the middle of the floor like a sculpture. Tightly bound together by hand, Knot XL can replace or simply complement sofas and armchairs in casual environments, whether at home, in a busy office or in any informal public space.
"I believe that things in design should be attractive and fun with a sense of playfulness that makes you want to take a second look. I even use my Knot XL for yoga, which I also teach."

Ragnheiður Ösp Sigurðardóttir
Helping her grandfather who was a sign maker in Iceland, Ragnheiður Ösp Sigurðardóttir was inspired to work creatively from an early age. "There was always this strong sense of DIY and making things. This way of thinking inspired me to open my mind and see that it is possible to create anything." After studying at the Icelandic Academy of Art and the Cranbrook Academy of Art, Ragnheiður opened her own studio in Reykjavik. The Knot cushion was born in 2011, when she was making bear figurines from crocheted tubes. "I wanted to try tying knots in the tubes and see what the result would be. I found the idea of a big soft knot intriguing in a fun pop-art style. I also like the fact that when you first look at the cushion, you might not really know what it is. And maybe that's what brings you together".
