Gunilla Allard

With her precise, minimalist and elegant creations, Gunilla Allard is one of Sweden's most renowned furniture designers. Not surprisingly, she worked on films as an art director, prop maker and set designer before embarking on design studies. After creating all the art glass blown at Orrefors for the cult classic The Glassblower's Children, her pursuit of perfection and interpretation of a Scandinavian touch has permeated every design assignment she has taken on, with meticulous attention to detail, whatever the market "We appreciate products that are welcoming at work; why should we design products for the home or office?" she asks. In addition to furniture, Gunilla Allard has designed lighting, rugs, kitchenware and glassware since graduating from the University of Arts, Crafts and Design in 1988. After graduating, which included a year's exchange at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, she became the first female designer for Swedish furniture company Lammhults.
