Featuring an aluminium swivel base, the AAC220 chair has a slightly more formal expression than the other variants in the series. Taking up the basic idea of the AAC family, the AAC220 features a curved shell with a slightly higher back than the 120 series. The AAC221 balances the more formal expression of the aluminium swivel base with the softness of the upholstered shell.

Designed with optimum functionality in mind, the shell structure offers a deep, generous seat that combines attractive aesthetics with a high level of comfort, while the lower armrests provide good support and allow the chair to be placed under a table or desk.

The base is available in polished aluminium or painted black, and the post-consumer recycled plastic shell is available in a range of colours and finishes, offering a multitude of design combinations that give this series versatility in a wide range of corporate, public and private contexts.

Hee Welling is a Danish furniture designer who founded his own studio in Copenhagen in 2003. Welling has received a number of design awards, including the Bo Bedre Award (Denmark), Good Design Award (USA) and has been nominated as the Danish designer of the year in both 2013 and 2014.

Welling is the son of a cabinetmaker, and his fascination with production techniques, materials and machinery was fired as a child. He went on to study at The University of Art and Design in Helsinki, and received his master’s degree in furniture design from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (where he is also now a design tutor).

His design ethos is centered around the idea of creating technically accomplished products that can reach a wide audience. His work is characterized by a great sense of proportion and quietly elegant looks.
