Young Danish designer Isabel Ahm says she was inspired by the human body, and particularly the shoulders, to design the solid wood base. The top is in wood veneer. The Åstrup pullout table is her first creation for FDB Møbler.

Everyday Challenges Solved by Good Design Isabel Ahm graduated as a furniture designer from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2007 and has run her own studio since 2009. For her, the design process includes researching how people eat, sleep, and spend time together. These studies give her valuable insights into everyday life, insights that she incorporates into her work. Her designs have garnered her a number of exhibitions and awards, as well as a surprising collaboration with Denmark’s Boxer TV—a sofa designed specifically for watching TV—and participation in the TV show Denmark’s Next Classic. The Åstrup pullout table is Isabel Ahm’s first design for FDB Møbler.
