The line of the Physix swivel chair, designed by Albertro Meda in 2012, reminds the classical Aluminium Chair designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1958. In both cases, the continuous seat shell is made by a textile panel stretched between two side members. With this design, Physix chair assumes its place in a long line of iconic chairs while taking the typology to yet another level. Using state-of-the-art materials and production technology, Alberto Meda orchestrates an interplay of three elements to create a new dynamic sitting experience: a flexible frame construction, an elastic cover and a stabilising mechanism. Together, these three characteristics form an ingenious construction that explores new possibilities of dynamic sitting through the interaction of flexible and rigid elements. Physix is available as an office swivel chair and also with a four-star base in the version Physix Conference.

Alberto Meda lives and works in Milan. He teaches at the IUAV University of Venice and lectures at leading design colleges and institutions. He has been working with Vitra since 1994. During this time he has created a series of offi ce chairs and a variety of office and conference desks.
