Designed in 1970 by French architect Bertrand Balas, this collection has been reissued by DCW Éditions to revive its unique charm and modernist elegance.

Inspired by sunsets over the Garonne, as Balas was fond of emphasizing, Here Comes the Sun is distinguished by its truncated spherical shape, evoking a star suspended in space. At first glance, it may seem like a simple lamp with an original design, but once lit, it reveals a special magic: the light it diffuses, both direct and indirect, creates a soft and soothing halo. Directed downward, it is also reflected by the interior of the lampshade, producing a captivating lighting effect, especially at nightfall.

Made of aluminum, the pendant light is available in several sizes (diameters ranging from 10 cm for the Mini version to 55 cm for the larger ones) and in different finishes: black/black, white/white, black/copper, or white/copper. This versatility allows it to be used alone or in groups, creating compositions evoking a constellation or a galaxy of luminous stars. The textile cable (3 to 5 meters depending on the model) and the discreet ceiling rose add a touch of practical refinement.

Bertrand Balas originally named his lamp Here Comes the Sun, but in 1970, shortly after the release of the Beatles' song of the same name, he chose to rename it Springfontein to avoid any confusion or legal issues, in collaboration with the Dutch company Raak. Decades later, DCW Éditions bought the rights and restored the lamp to its original name, thus affirming its identity and history.

The collection embodies the spirit of DCW Éditions: thoughtfully designed, well-crafted objects that transcend passing trends. It adapts to diverse spaces—living rooms, bedrooms, hallways—and captivates with its ability to transform the ambiance of a room with light that is both functional and poetic. It's a piece that doesn't just illuminate; it tells a story, that of a designer inspired by nature and a brand dedicated to excellence in lighting design.
