Audo Copenhagen's Hashira collection, designed by studio Norm Architects, is a series of elegant luminaires that fuse minimalist Scandinavian aesthetics with the inspiration of traditional Japanese rice paper (washi) lanterns.
Materials Linen, steel and ash
Dimensions Ø30 x H83 cm
This range embodies a perfect balance between tradition and modernity, East and West, combining simplicity, proportion and character.
Background: The collection takes its name from the Japanese word “Hashira”, meaning “pillar” or “column”, in reference to the cylindrical shape of the fixtures.
Inspiration: Norm Architects was inspired by Japanese washi paper artisans during a trip. The lamps are reminiscent of rice paper lanterns, with a translucent fabric that diffuses a soft, warm light, also reminiscent of Japanese blinds.
Style Japandi: The collection combines Scandinavian minimalist clarity with the clean, organic aesthetics of Japan, creating a timeless, universal design.
Materials: The lamps are made from linen (available in white or raw natural linen) for the shade, which diffuses a soft, glare-free light. The internal structure is in steel, and the bases of the table and floor lamps are in ash, adding a warm, natural touch.
Light diffusion: the translucent fabric reveals the internal graphic structure when the lamp is switched on, creating a subtle, sophisticated visual effect.
Form: The cylindrical silhouette, inspired by architectural columns, lends a sculptural presence while remaining discreet.
Atmosphere: Hashira luminaires create a soft, ambient light, ideal for creating a cosy, welcoming atmosphere. Their minimalist design complements a wide variety of interiors, from the most traditional to the most contemporary.
Versatility: Thanks to their uncluttered style, they are equally suited to residential spaces (living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms) and professional environments (offices, hotels, restaurants).
Wiring: Lamps are fitted with textile cables (e.g. 3 m for floor lamps, with dimmer for some models).
Protection: IP20 class (protection against solids >12.5 mm, no protection against water).
Care: Clean with a damp cloth to preserve the fabric.
