The Citterio 98 and Collective Tools collections, designed by Italian architect Antonio Citterio and German industrial designer Glen Oliver Löw for Iittala, embody a modern vision of Nordic design, combining functionality, ergonomics and minimalist elegance. Launched in 1998 and 2000 respectively, they complement each other to offer a refined culinary experience, suitable for both everyday meals and special occasions. Their collaboration, which began in 1987, reflects the expertise of Citterio, winner of the Compasso d'Oro (1987, 1994) and featured in the collections of MoMA and the Centre Pompidou, and that of Löw, trained at the University of Wuppertal and the Domus Academy in Milan.

The Citterio 98 collection is a contemporary reinterpretation of traditional cutlery, inspired by the robust aesthetics of French restaurant cutlery. Made from matt-brushed 18/10 stainless steel, it features wide handles that taper to the waist, offering a comfortable, balanced grip. The range includes forks, knives, spoons and teaspoons, available in boxes or individually, as well as specific sets for desserts and starters. Its bold design, with generous proportions, makes it a modern, durable and dishwasher-safe classic, perfect for formal or casual tables.

Collective Tools completes Citterio 98 with a range of serving utensils designed as a “toolbox” for the contemporary kitchen. Also in matt brushed stainless steel, it includes serving spoons, butter knives, cheese knives, cheese slicers, cake scoops, salad servers and salt and pepper mills equipped with the CrushGrind® ceramic mechanism for precise grind adjustment. Each piece, with its sculptural, ergonomic shapes, is designed to be intuitive and pleasant to handle, while bringing understated sophistication to the table. The collection has won multiple awards, including the iF Award, Design Plus, Red Dot Award and Good Design Award, for its marriage of design, functionality and innovation.
