Design and features

The Bohemian 72 lamp is distinguished by its hand-woven rattan structure, forming an openwork basket crowned by a rattan dome with brass detailing. This construction allows light to filter through the interstices, casting delicate shadow patterns. Measuring Ø 45 cm x H 45 cm (shade Ø 37 cm x H 22.6 cm), it rests on a stable base and incorporates a foot switch on a 200 cm cable.

Moisture-resistant, it is suitable for protected outdoor use. Its organic design and natural rattan finish make it both functional and decorative, evoking timeless elegance.

Background and heritage

Gabriella Crespi (1922-2017), a Milanese designer trained in architecture, left her mark on the 1970s with her sophisticated bohemian style, which was prized by European royalty and the Hollywood jet set, including Audrey Hepburn and Hubert de Givenchy. The Bohemian 72 lamp, from his eponymous collection, reflects his fascination with natural materials such as rattan, then a symbol of luxury, and his refusal of barriers between interior and exterior, banishing curtains to let light and air circulate.

Initially produced for an exclusive private clientele, the Bohemian 72 collection, including armchair, sofa, ottoman and lamp, epitomizes the bohemian lifestyle of the 70s. Reissued by Gubi to celebrate Crespi's centenary, the lamp continues his legacy, blending oriental influences, sculptural forms and a timeless modernity, as evidenced by his other creations, such as the Fungo lamp (1973).

Manufactured by Gubi

Gubi, a Danish publisher founded in 1967, is reissuing the Bohemian 72 lamp with artisanal care, faithful to Crespi's original designs. The rattan, steamed and hand-woven around a specific matrix, is dyed and finished with a glossy coating for added durability. The moisture-resistant structure and stainless steel screws guarantee protected outdoor use, while the brass detailing adds a touch of elegance.
