Concept and Inspiration

The Bit stools are inspired by pure, geometric forms, such as monoliths or columns, evoking a bold simplicity. Simon Legald sought to create an object that is both utilitarian and artistic, able to integrate into various contexts while highlighting the unique texture of the recycled material. Their sleek silhouette contrasts with a pixelated surface, reminiscent of terrazzo or granite, created using fragments of recycled plastic. This speckled texture gives each stool a visual uniqueness, with each piece being slightly different.

Materials and Manufacturing

Made of low-density polyethylene (LDPE) from 100% recycled household and industrial waste. The plastic fragments are heated to 120°C, a process that allows the material to be reused without altering its properties, making the stool infinitely recyclable. The pixelated surface, resulting from the melted plastic pieces, creates a terrazzo or granite effect, adding visual depth. The use of recycled materials and the ability to remelt the plastic underscore Normann Copenhagen's environmental commitment. The process limits the ecological impact while reusing waste. Suitable for indoor and outdoor use, the stools are resistant to temperatures from -10°C to +50°C and are weather resistant. Easy to clean with a damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products to preserve the texture.

Versatility and Uses

Multifunctionality: Bit stools can be used as:

- Seat: Extra seating for a guest.

- Side table: For a lamp, book, or cup.

- Pedestal: To display a plant, vase, or sculpture.

- Bedside table: In a minimalist bedroom.

Environments: Their sturdiness and weather resistance make them ideal for living rooms, patios, gardens, cafes, or public spaces.

Stackability: The Bit Stack model is particularly practical for spaces where storage is crucial, such as restaurants or offices.
