Act lamp
Crafted from discarded PE water pipe scraps, materials traditionally incinerated due to their complex composition which prevents them from being reused, the Act Lamp embodies a commitment to circular design and resourceful innovation.
The Act suspension offers a certain transparency, in every sense of the word. When the light is switched on, this opalescent shade casts captivating shadows revealing its ingenious origin. The oval shape of the pipe rings is reflected in the lampshade's oblong silhouette, creating a coherent and harmonious aesthetic.
Each Act luminaire is unique. Despite their similar shape, each one is distinguished by a particular assembly of the rings, for a unique result between light and shadow.
Available in two sizes, the Act Lamp features a shade made from 100% PE-LD polyethylene industrial waste, paired with an aluminum socket, white fabric cord, and canopy with a matt finish.
Designer
Simon Legald graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2012. He has worked on the development of numerous products from small to large scale. Legald's designs are the result of an exchange between craft and industry. In his work, he emphasizes the structure of the product, which becomes intrinsic to the design.
"Honesty is what makes a product intelligible and defines its functionality. If you understand the product, then there's no need for explanations. The very purpose of my designs is to be bought and used. So they have to meet functional needs as well as psychological and aesthetic ones. For me, simplicity is what describes the true identity of objects. In my designs, I try not to add superfluous details. All this gives the products a simple, honest expression."
