Bridge tray

The Bridge tray, designed by Swedish designer Carina Seth Andersson for Design House Stockholm, is an iconic piece of Scandinavian design, combining functionality, minimalism and timeless elegance. Introduced in 2015, this circular top in finely grained oak plywood stands out for its ability to transcend its traditional role to become a small side table, usable in a multitude of contexts, indoors and out. Embodying Seth Andersson's approach, which seeks to reduce forms to their essentials while giving them a timeless quality, the Bridge is both a utilitarian object and an aesthetic work of art.

Multifunctional design

The Bridge tray takes its name from its ability to “fill” spaces, offering a flexible solution for the changing needs of modern spaces. As Carina Seth Andersson explains, “I often work sitting on the floor, and prefer not to risk spilling things by lifting a tray into a corner, or tripping over protruding handles”. The result is a design without protruding handles, featuring a raised edge with slots for easy grip and added stability. These slots make carrying the tray effortless, while adding a subtle graphic touch.

Origin & inspiration

The Bridge tray concept originated in Taiwan, where Carina Seth Andersson, along with five other Swedish designers, was invited by the NTCRI (National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute) to reinterpret the traditional craft of Taiwanese lacquerware. Originally conceived in this context, the Bridge has been adapted in oak plywood to evoke a natural Scandinavian look, with a matte, oiled finish that highlights the fine grain of the wood.

Why would you choose it ?

The Bridge tray captivates with its versatility and timeless design. Capable of serving as a tray or small table, it adapts to a multitude of contexts, from the living room to the garden, from the office to the bedroom, while adding a touch of order and elegance. Its slotted edge, warm oak material and sleek silhouette make it both practical and sculptural, true to Carina Seth Andersson's aesthetic. It harmonizes perfectly with other pieces from the brand, such as the Björk footstool or Sand tableware, to create a coherent Nordic ambience.
