1. Select type of curtain and measure.
A - Pelmet
B - Window sill -length curtain
C - Floor-length curtain
2. Decide how you want to hang your curtain.
Clips or hooks: Amount of extra fabric needed for hemming: 3 dm.
Rod pocket: Amount of extra fabric needed for hemming: 3 dm.
3. How much fabric do you need per curtain?
Curtain length measured from the top of the curtain rod to the bottom of the curtain + 3 dm for hemming = what you should order.
For example: 250 cm long rod-pocket curtain - buy no less than 28 units of fabric, because you will need 25 dm for the curtain in addition to the 3 dm necessary for hemming (25 dm + 3 dm).
Please note the the width of our fabrics is 145 cm
1. Measure your table.
Measure the table and decide how much you want the fabric to hang over the edge of the table (a drop length of approximately 3 dm per side is normally recommended).
2. How much fabric do I need?
Table length + drop length (total) + 2 dm for hemming = what you should order.
For example: 3 m long table - buy no less than 37 units of fabric. Indeed, you need 30dm for the table's length, 6 dm for the table's sides, and an extra 2dm for hemming which equals to 30 dm + 3 dm + 3 dm + 2 dm.
Please note that the width of the fabrics is 145 cm.
1. Decide the size of the cushion you want to have.
The most common sizes for cushions are the following: 40x40 cm and 50x50 cm. If you are making a new cover for an old cushion, measure your cushion.
2. How much fabric do I need?
A - If the cushion width is 50 cm or less: add the height + 1dm for seam allowance = what you should order to make your cushion.
For example, if you have a cushion that measures 40 x 40 cm, you need to buy 5 units, since 4 decimeters are necessary for the cushion + 1 decimeter for the seam allowance (4dm + 1dm).
B - If the cushion you have is wider than 50 cm: add width + height + 1dm for seam allowance = what you should order to make your cushion.
For example, if you have a cushion that measures 70 x 70 cm, you need to buy 15 units since 14 decimeters are necessary for the cushion + 1 decimeter for the seam allowance (7dm + 7dm + 1dm).
Please note that the width of the fabrics is 145 cm.
When calculating the amount of fabric needed, be sure to take into account the excess required for hems and aligning the print.
For aligning the pattern, use the repeat measurement given above each fabric sold. Please also take potential shrinking into account when planning the sewing (cotton, sateen, and batiste: 4%; linen: 6%).
The fabrics are sold by the decimetre (1 metre = 10 decimetres). For example, if your measurements require 2.2m, choose 22 units.
