Thonet lounge chairs

The German house Thonet, founded in 1819 by Michael Thonet, revolutionized the furniture industry with its innovative technique of steam-bending wood, allowing for the mass production of armchairs with elegant and fluid lines. Its most iconic models include the No. 14 (the first assembly chair in the world), the No. 10 rocking chair, and the Wassily armchair designed by Marcel Breuer in the 1920s during the Bauhaus period. A pioneer of modern furniture, the bicentennial company continues to combine traditional craftsmanship and innovation, producing pieces whose curved forms in bent wood and tubular steel structures have influenced the history of global design.
