Calabash pendant

Fritz Hansen – Komplot Design

The calabash pumpkin inspired Komplot Design to create a sculptural design that stands out with or without the light turned on. Inspired by the metallic sparkle and rough, sandy structure of a meteor, Komplot has come up with a new and vibrant surface treatment for the Calabash pendant.Β

The new, mat Calabash pendant comes in two sizes - P1 and P2 - and is made of aluminium with a structure painted surface. Opposite the original design, the new Calabash finish emphasises the shape in a very interesting way.

The chrome and gold variants reflect surroundings, almost like a mirror.

Komplot Design

A liberated and experimental approach to the design process combined with a sharp eye for the latest production techniques are the hallmarks of Komplot Design. The designer duo are among the most innovative Danish design companies that have succeeded in both continuing and renewing Danish design traditions and at the same time keeping abreast of the latest international developments. Designers/architects Boris Berlin and Poul Christiansen created Komplot Design in 1987.

According to Boris Berlin and Poul Christiansen, good design is more than just a solution to the main functional problem. Good design also has cultural, philosophical and aesthetic elements. For this reason, the result is always extremely personal and strongly influenced by the designers' cultural backgrounds and experiences.

In their work to create the first series of luminaires for Lightyears, the designers of Komplot were inspired by the greatest creator and source of inspiration in the world: Mother Nature. The universe of design is called "Shapes of Nature" and it underpins this fascination and inspiration.
