Knot Chair

Tatsuo Kuroda – Normann Copenhagen

Normann Copenhagen – KNOT Chair – Tatsuo Kuroda, 2012

The Knot chair, designed by Japanese designer Tatsuo Kuroda in 2012, is one of Normann Copenhagen's very first chairs. Its singular construction, with its paper rope joints, is a nod to classic furniture from the 1950s. Tatsuo Kuroda graduated from Tama Art University in Japan and has been working in product and furniture design since 2006.

Despite his Japanese background, Tatsuo drew inspiration from traditional Scandinavian design when designing Knot.

"My idea behind Knot was to create a chair that is a reinterpretation of itself - a chair that is both classic and modern. I am inspired by the classics of Danish design in which function and aesthetics come together," Tatsuo Kuroda.
