Shoemaker Chair Werner
Shoemaker Chair Werner

The classic Shoemaker chair, produced by Werner Design, has been made in Denmark since 1937. The Shoemaker stool is delicately crafted from a single piece of wood, elegantly worked to create a silky-smooth surface. The elegance of the Shoemaker stool is reflected in its T-shaped structure, which creates a harmonious seating surface.

Werner

The design of the Shoemaker chair dates back to 1936 in Odense, Denmark. In the 1970s, the Werner family, descended from a long line of wood turners - a profession virtually non-existent today - took over and assimilated the model. Over three generations, the family has renewed and refined the Shoemaker chair, restoring its design and production to what it is today: a true classic archetype. They have tirelessly optimized the chair over the years, adjusting minor aspects of the production flow and finished product. For example, T-shaped legs were added for greater stability, and the seat was reshaped and rounded to offer better protection to the top line in the event of the chair falling. On the island of Funen, the Werner family worked in the woodturning joinery Gislev Drejerforretning, founded in 1913. The third generation of the Werner family is still part of the joinery. So, designer and woodturner are one and the same.
