The Pavilion chair was designed to equip the Langelinie Pavilion, built in 1958 by the architect couple Eva and Niels Koppel in a modernist style on the Copenhagen waterfront, not far from the Little Mermaid. The specifications required that the chair was stackable, suitable for an intensive use, and consistent with the poetic and aery style of the place. To achieve this, Torbøn Anderssen and Espen Voll married curved plywood and curved metal tubes, to produce a sturdy, comfortable and slender chair. A success.
