The question that manufacturer String furniture posed to architect Anna von Schewen and industrial designer Björn Dahlström was: is it possible to design a work environment that is as welcoming as a living room while still being perfectly functional? Their answer is a modular office system called String Works, made up of a series of modular elements designed according to the principle of the String System. String Works makes it possible to create a system perfectly adapted to every need and every environment, both contemporary and classic, which can be used both at home and in a professional space. With String Works, Anna von Schewen and Björn Dahlström have exploited the ingenuity and simplicity of the String system invented by Nisse Strinning at the very beginning of the 1950s.
The central piece of String Works is the height-adjustable work desk, a concept born in the Nordic countries and particularly in Sweden and which is essential today everywhere in the world: vary your working position by alternating standing and sitting stimulates circulation and muscles, which is highly beneficial both for the body and for concentration.
