Lisa Johansson-Pape's career as a designer has been long and varied. Johansson-Pape's career in lighting design began in 1942 when she designed a number of contemporary design lights for the lighting design company Stockmann-Orno, among others. Johansson-Pape also served as artistic director of Orno. “It was quite by chance that I became an artist designer of lighting. By training, I am a furniture designer, but I had to make lamps during the war. Light fixtures started to interest me so much that I put furniture design aside. I'm a bit more interested in lamps and lighting than design. I want to provide quality lighting to every Finnish home.”
