Lors d'un voyage en Grèce au début des années 1960, Maija Isola s'est inspirée du mouvement de l'eau et l'a représenté dans plusieurs imprimés sur tissu, dont Seireeni (sirène) de 1964. Nommé d'après les sirènes mythologiques, le motif rappelle également le chant enchanteur qui attirait les marins dans les eaux dangereuses.
