A fusion of Scandinavian design and Japanese craftsmanship, the Ita collection is the first collaboration between &Tradition and design firm OEO Studio.

Ita (“plank of wood” in Japanese) is a collection of build-your-own furniture inspired by miyadaiku joinery, a centuries-old Japanese craft that enables furniture to be assembled without screws or glue.

The collection comprises six pieces: a table in two sizes, two benches and two coffee tables. The visual language is simple and uncluttered, with great attention to detail.

Made from natural or dark-stained oak, the Ita collection showcases the beauty and tactility of wood, while guaranteeing durability and ease of assembly.

Each piece is designed to be flat-packed, and all components can be assembled using a single tool.

The OS1 and OS2 tables feature a tabletop made of two meticulously crafted planks, resting on wide yet slender wooden legs.

Both variants can be selected with a desk management system - an intuitive adaptation to optimize work at home or in the office. Both tables measure the same height and width, 74 cm x 95 cm, but differ in length, OS1 reaching 200 cm and OS2 260 cm.

“The Ita collection is the essence of minimalism,” comments Thomas Lykke of OEO Studio. “When designing a collection like this, it's all about paying attention to the smallest details - and you need just enough to make the look and feel fresh.”

“To make Ita interesting, we included subtleties such as rounded edges, as well as careful attention to the function of its assembly. The result is a collection that you discover by touching or smelling, because for us, design isn't just about what you see.”

“Sometimes the simplest composition is the most difficult,” Lykke comments.

“It's always difficult to remove pieces, but it's much easier to add them. For the table, we really focused on the essence of Ita, removing only what was irrelevant, in line with OEO's philosophy of compelling minimalism.Â
