Piloti wooden coffee tables

 Hugo Passos, 2016

The Piloti collection, whose name refers to the pillars or columns that raise a building above the ground, features a selection of coffee tables of different heights.

The intention of the design is that the table appears as a thin line almost floating in space, in order to play on their apparent lightness and the robustness of the materials used: solid oak, a naturally beautiful and tactile material that has no need ornament.

The different sizes give the freedom to group the tables in a corner or fit a sofa. They can be used individually as side tables or as a matching pair on either side of a bed.

Hugo Passos

Hugo Passos opened his own design studio in 2012 after having worked as a design assistant at Fredrikson Stallard. The London-based designer’s approach to design is to create objects that are both familiar and enjoyable in form and use. Without disregarding the artistic potential of design, Passos stays true to his view that designs must first and foremost serve their purpose and “do what they’re supposed to”. His products for Monocle magazine as well as other works have been featured at SaloneSatellite in Milan and the London Design Festival. The Piloti tables are Passos’ first collaboration with Fredericia.
