ALL PLASTIC Chair Jasper Morrison, 2016
ALL PLASTIC Chair Jasper Morrison, 2016

Consistant with his "super normal design" aesthetic, Jasper Morrison created with the All Plastic Chair a renewed version of the classic wooden chair. The simple substitution of a material by another – wood by plastic – is sufficient to create innovation. The frame, cast in a single molded piece, is made of very rigid, high-strength polypropylene, while the thin backrest and seat are made from a more elastic plastic, which provides a much better comfort than wood. This combination of the 2 plastics is exploited by Jasper Morrison to play with colours, the frame being slightly darker than the seat and backrest.

Sun and water resistant, the materials of the All Plastic Chair make it a very robust and durable seat that can be used indoors and outdoors. It is therefore specially suited for the layout of dining rooms, but also cafés, restaurants and other public spaces.

JASPER MORRISON

JASPER MORRISON

Known for thinking outside the box, Jasper Morrison is one of the most successful industrial designers of the past few decades.

Together with his colleague Naoto Fukasawa, he defined the term 'super normal', which in his opinion answers the question of what 'good design' should really be. In his work, he strives to create good examples of understated, useful and responsible design.

Morrison has developed several projects in collaboration with Vitra, including the All Plastic Chair, the Soft Modular Sofa and the HAL chair family. His designs are represented in New York's Museum of Modern Art and other prominent museum collections around the world.
